L'Arc
• ( Walking Distance from the Raphael
)
12 Rue de Presbourg
Paris, 75016
One of Paris's chicest and most exclusive gourmet
restaurants with a luxurious club-bar attached
frequented by the stars of fashion, film and finance.
Not that we'd recognise the latter. Diners and drinkers
take champagne and cocktails in the plush carpet and
leather space of the lounge bar, where the dominant
mode of dress is Chloe, Versace and Armani. The service
by uniformed staff would suit for princes and
presidents and if you look in the restaurant, you may
find them dining there. The vast length of the
adjoining club is exaggerated further when it opens up
onto the terrace-garden, the perfect spot for seeing
the celestial stars on clear nights. Bring your loved
one, but make sure you book before.

Le Fumoir
6
Rue de l'Amiral-de-Coligny

Smoother than Sacha Distel's underwear, you won't be
surprised to discover this handsome bar and restaurant
has a definite 'smoking room' feel. Conveniently close

some culture with a long Pastis or one of the many
excellent cocktails. The chic leather chairs are great
to unwind in and there's also a selection of
international newspapers to peruse should the

Mezzanine Bar at
Alcazar
62 Rue Mazarine
Paris, 75006
Hours:Wed - Sat 9pm - late
DJ-bar on the mezzanine level of Terrence Conran's
fashionable Alcazar restaurant on the Left Bank. A
former printers shop, then a famous transvestite bar,
the restaurant is typical Conran minimalism mixed with
modern French flair. The bar is more special, a light,
airy, glassy space with a great view of the people
below. It's full of post-work bankers, lawyers and
hipsters in suits and polo necks, most of them checking
out the beauties sipping glasses of Graves and Chablis
by the bar. The curvy wave tables by the windows are
great for dates too, while delicious snacks and sushi
add to the eclectic surrounds.
Harry's Bar
5 rue Daunou 2nd Mº Opéra
Paris, 75002

Don't let the name put you off - this is a legendary
Parisian landmark. One of the most famous bars in the

clientele, order a Dry Martini and soak up some
old-world style.
Le Cabaret
2 Place du Palais Royal
Paris,
75001
Hours : Mon - Sat 9pm - 6am
Le Cab, for Cabaret, is the reference of glamour in
what it can do of better.Decoration
is a kind of creative lounge and spacy sulphurous
bedding designed in 2003 by Ora Ito who transformed it
into a colorful, sumptuous underground spaceship.
Corian walls and large mirrors reflect ever-changing
colors on the main dance floor, while the myriad
alcoves surrounding it are leather-lined for added
intimacy. Ito's design helped Le Cab double admissions
in one year.Beautiful
girls, VIP and “ le Fric c’est Chic!
”, Very good programming..Also
a restaurant which is quite good as well..
Quite
difficult to enter.
The Lizard
Lounge
18 Rue du Bourg-Tibourg 4th Mº Hôtel-de-Ville
Hours: M-S 12am-2am
Urban and industrial, this stylish, split-level
bar/restaurant is dominated by contemporary American
influences - a heavy steel mezzanine, art adorned walls
and a bar that undulates along the room. Professionals
and hip young Anglophiles dominate the international
clientele in one of Paris' most happening and exciting
bars.
L'Ecluse
Bar à Vin
Café Burq
Montmartre
Queen
• ( Walking Distance from the Raphael
)
102 Avenue des Champs-Elysees
Paris, 75008
Ultra hip club on the Champs-Elysees still going strong
despite the demise of Wednesday's legendary 'Respect'
night. The crowd is a fun and frolicsome mix of
Armani-clad men, skimpily dressed women and a fair
share of flamboyant drag queens. The lavish VIP area
has a bizarre ceiling net which women have been known
to cling to and gyrate from, while a long, narrow
exterior balcony draws a crowd of dashing voyeurs to
watch the action on the dance floor below. Big name DJs
spin a mix of fun ambient and house, and vodka seems to
be the drink of choice. That said bar staff mix a fine
array of Cosmopolitans. Go on, be a Queen.
The Hemingway
Bar
15 place Vendôme In the Hôtel Ritz
Paris
Hours:Tues-Sat 6:30pm-2:00am
The bar at The Ritz in Paris was where Papa Hemmingway
whiled away many a drinking hour and decades on it has
been named in his honour. A piano bar supreme,
well-to-do tourists dressed in their best order fine
wines or top shelf dark goods and listen to the
tinkling classics of old. The space is small and cosy
and perfect for intimate rendez-vous.
Barrio Latino
46 Rue du Faubourg Saint-Antoine
Paris, 75012
Hours: Mon-Sun 11am-2am
Weird and wonderful four-floor restaurant, bar and
nightclub where the quirkiest of many gimmicks is the
glass-covered trolleys that wait staff push around from
which they dispense snacks. The first and third floors
are given over to dance floors that pump out funky
Latino sounds, while the second floor is a restaurant
offering regional Latin dishes such as Brazilian
feijoada and Argentine steaks (try their Bife de Ocho).
The top floor meanwhile is a nightclub where the
Caipirinhas and Mojitos flow, and dusky bodies writhe
to samba and salsa rhythm like it's Carnival. There's
even a new VIP section to which important hombres and
senoritas have a special access key. Viva la fiesta!

Ice Kube Bar
passage
Ruelle
Paris, 75018
Hours: Wed - Sat 7.30 - 1.30am
Providing a much needed hip, yet affordable,
alternative to Paris's palatial and imposing, grande
dames, The Kube Rooms is one of the most exciting
hotels to have opened in the city over the last few
years. It's a 41-room boutique style affair with décor
not out of place in the Jetsons, simultaneously retro
and modern, with white walls and glowing glass cubes,
the odd splash of hot pink and fake fur. But for many
the highlight will be the bar. The Ice Kube is, as the
name suggests, yet another urban ice bar. While these
places are no longer a novelty, it's the only one of
its kind in Paris and the ice theme feels in keeping
with the hotel's super cool aesthetic. A cover charge
buys you entrance, as well as a winter parka, a pair of
gloves and unlimited vodka.
Bar Ourcq
Quai de la Loire
Paris, 75019
The little turquoise-framed Bar Ourcq has two things
going for it. Its cool canal-side setting makes it one
of Paris' most attractive spots to while away an
evening, and the unstuffy boho atmosphere simply adds
to its appeal. Imaginatively decorated, with
parrot-patterned wallpaper and battered sofas, it has a
warm, intimate feel and attracts an eclectic crowd from
across the city. Out in the19th arrondissement, the
location is unusual for such a trendy venue, but it
really comes into its own in the evening, when local
DJs play their sets and the beauty of its canal by
moonlight casts its spell.

Le Bar Dix
10
Rue de l’Odéon
Paris, 75006
Regularly cited as the place to go to encounter a dose
of authentic Left Bank atmosphere, Le Bar Dix is
certainly not short of character. Housed in a
charmingly crumbling basement space, with a juke box
that plays an eclectic range of old pop records, and
walls papered with decades-old advertising murals, it's
a romantic spot, popular with students and bookish
types drifting over from nearby Shakespeare and Co. A
jug of sangria is recommended to keep the conversation
flowing and it's best to pitch up early to get a table,
as it's kind of teeny. The definitive Left Bank
drinking experience!
Murano Urban
Resort
3 Boulevard du Temple
Paris, 75003
What is an Urban Resort actually? To be honest, we're
not sure. But if the Murano Urban Resort in Paris' hip
Marais district is anything can go by, we know we like
them. The hotel, created after the owners knocked
together a run-down apartment house and an adjacent
car-park, is almost frighteningly fashionable:
whiter-than-white décor enlivened by the odd spot of
Pop Art or blast of mood lighting; Murano glass is also
a running design theme, hence the name. Things are a
little more relaxed in the bar area. The Murano boasts
one of the biggest vodka bars in France, with a vast
array of brands from all over the world. Design-wise,
colour plays a greater part in the overall look of the
bar than elsewhere in the hotel, which helps in
avoiding the chilly feel that characterizes some of the
other public spaces. Live DJing every night energizes
things further and the place attracts a young,
fashion-conscious crowd.
