Biarritz



Biarritz is a town which lies on the Bay of Biscay, on the Atlantic coast, in southwestern France.
It became more renowned in 1854 when Empress Eugenie, the wife of Napoleon III, built a palace on the beach (now the Hôtel du Palais).
The British royal family regularly took vacations in Biarritz: European royalty such as Queen Victoria, Edward VII, and Alfonso XIII of Spain were frequent visitors.
It is a luxurious seaside town and is popular with tourists and surfers. Biarritz also boasts some of the best beaches in Europe and has won multiple awards for their top class standards. 
Biarritz's casino, opened in August 1901 and beaches make the town a notable tourist centre for Europeans, and an amazing destination for a week-end.

How to get there :

By train : Several direct TGV trains (at least 5 trains per day) leave daily from Paris-Montparnasse station to Biarritz. The duration of the trip is 5 hours. The price for a one way ticket in first Class is roughly 140 €.

By plane : The Biarritz-Anglet-Bayonne airport is located only 3 KM from the city centre. From Paris-Orly airport, 4 or 5 flights a day with Air France. The flying time is 1 h 10. From paris-CDG airport, 3 flights a day with Air France. The flying time is also 1 h 10.

By car : Biarritz is located 772 KM from Paris. It takes around 8 hours to get there by car. From Paris, motorway A10 (direction Bordeaux) and then motorway A63. Exit n°4 “Biarritz”. Tole fee : roughly 55 €.
